My mother, Marjorie.
She married an older man, and when he passed away she was left with five kids. She could have married again, but instead went ahead and stoically took up the challenge of raising her family single-handed.
My father, Sonny.
I was told after his death (by many who knew him well) that I should try to be a 100% honest man "like your dad". I hope I have lived up to this standard. I have certainly tried.
My uncle, Julian.
He was my true role model, a man with a sharp wit and a great sense of humour. One day, my mum paid me a huge compliment. She said, "How is it there is so much of Uncle Jules in you?"
I was married for only six years, and was endowed with one beautiful baby boy.
How could I not take up the challenge to never abandon this endeavour?
